Day- 176

FISH -Stephen C Lundin and others

Fish is a fictional story of transforming work into a passion.

·       All the working people, after some time, come across situations that are mind boggling leading often to frustrations.

·        One of the common issues today across the globe is  stress  often caused by  work- life imbalances.

·       The need to commute for long, put in late hours and reaching targets have only added to the tension  in life leading to lot of  physical and psychological challenges .

·        Needless to say that today’s work place is highly charged  and very demanding. There is hardly any scope for fun and celebration.

·        The book  deals with such a situation faced by a single parent working woman and highlights her ordeal in office and elsewhere.

The beauty of the work is that the person seeks speedily help from outside and finds solution to her pressing problems. The book takes the reader through her life  situation closely-with which the reader will also be able to identify to some extent. The universality of the theme covered makes it a classic and it is  credited  to bring about change in one’s thinking and actions.

·       The book provides avenues to bring life back to the unenthusiastic and unmotivated team by adopting lessons from a fish market, where the employees are so alive and passionate that people stop just to watch them work.

·        It is a common knowledge that wherever the work is routine and monotonous the team gets dispirited.

·        The task is quite difficult to bring in enthusiasm in such a set up. In service industry and many other places where interface with public is needed, the team has to be really cheerful to deliver the expected level of service.

After reading the book  one will be tempted to give a trial to the method advocated therein.

Highly recommended for reading and sharing with colleagues especially at the work place like branches, departments, back offices etc.

Be peaceful
