Day 177

The Real Life MBA by Jack Welch and Suzy Welch

The book provides fresh, immediately applicable sometimes even counter-

intuitive lessons about how to create great organisations’, build high powered

teams and forge fulfilling careers in today's business environment.

The book is divided into 3 parts viz it’s about the game, it's about the team

and it’s about youAll aspects of  business are touched  in an unconventional

but doable manner.

All the chapters have an out of the box approach, exhorting one to proceed

ahead whatever be the circumstances, hence the approach is more practical

and not merely academic in nature .

Some of the key insights from the book are as under-

·       Business is the ultimate team sport .

·       The best missions are like that: aspirational, inspirational and practical.

·       The best leaders actually care more about their people than themselves.

·       Work is not something you do while you're waiting to  live. Work is life.

·       Silos kill speed. They kill ideas . They kill impact.

·       Companies need to do everything in their power to keep the B2B

     relationship very, very personal.

·       Giving people voice is the same as giving them dignity

·       Trust is a muscle. strengthened by daily exercise .

·       Treat everyone around you as a mentor.

·       Care like crazy about your people and their work

·       Create ownership statements.

The book discusses on Vision, Behavior and Consequences of one's actions

in detail-whether in life or business. In the final analysis the goal and

achievements are linked to these three vital aspect. Each and every page in

the book goad the reader towards action that will help to reach the set goals-

conventional or unconventional.

Thus the reader is compelled to introspect and motivated to act.

Book ends on a solemn note. The authors reiterate that-

None should do business alone as it is a team sport. Highly inspiring and

motivational narration by a genius  from the American Industry.

Be peaceful.
