Man’s Search for Meaning 22
I saw a clip wherein Minister Nitin Gadkari
was addressing some MLAs of his party…
·
he stated that all in life face different challenges and problems.
There is none without problems… how we get over them depends on our skill and
ability…
·
he cited the example of both Sunil Gavaskar and Sachin Tendulkar
with very short physiques were able to handle bowlers of immense sizes.
·
this is due to their mastery/skills in batting … similarly in
politics too, he added.
Then he came to aspect of
happiness … all have their own reasons to be unhappy…
·
MLA is unhappy as he did not get the ministerial berth, the
minister is unhappy as he did not get the right portfolio, further they are
unhappy that they missed CMs post and the CM is unhappy as he doesn’t know how
long he will hold the post.... so, who is happy here?
So, he gave a funda for happiness.... some newspaper man once asked him as to how
he looks happy always.
For which it seems he replied… if one is happy with what one has got -which is much higher than what was expected before… such a person will be happy. He also added that one who is constantly worried about tomorrow always will be unhappy.... simple yet profound...
He stated that during his
tenure as Party President he did not come across a single party man who was not unhappy... so, unhappiness is a choice
one makes…
Simply put but with lot of meaning
and significance.
As stated by the minister all feel that they did not get what is due to them… almost all past Indian Presidents
yearned for a second term going by paper reports of respective periods. Except
Dr. Radhakrishnan, none had that privilege… I guess.
So, the desires will be
always there… the President may still think that he did not become PM… where is
the end to desires…
So, there are plenty of ways
to be unhappy. I remember reading in a
book long back that-
I was unhappy that I did not have shoes
then I saw a man without
legs…...
We need Gurus to tell us
the obvious… as we focus on what we lack rather than what we have… half empty portion in a glass occupies our attention.
A swami was giving an answer
to avoid depression and suicidal thoughts.
He said once he a saw man
about to jump to end his life and he stopped him. On enquiry the person stated
that he has nothing of value to live for. So, the swami offered him Rs. 25 Lac if he can part with his eyes, that he refused. Swami stated that he will give Rs 15 lac for his legs that also he refused.... come to think of that the man has so
much wealth in his body itself.... may be a simile… to convey.
Are we conscious of our achievements and possessions or are we only cribbing for what is missing.?
- many laments over the promotions that they missed during their working years- even long after retirement……
- for many there are no relevant topics to discuss.... recycle and be unhappy is one of the pastimes.
Be happy. Be safe.
