Day - 136

 God’s Leela -Arunagirinaadhar

Arungirnaadhar, was a Tamil Hindu saint-poet who lived during the 15th century in Tamil Nadu, India. He was the creator of Thiruppugazh meaning , "Holy Praise" or "Divine Glory", a book of poems in Tamil in praise of Lord Murugan.

·       His poems are known for their lyricism coupled with complex rhymes and rhythmic structures. In Thiruppugazh, the literature and devotion has been blended harmoniously

·       Thiruppugazh is one of the major works of medieval Tamil literature, known for its poetical and musical qualities, as well as for its religious, moral and philosophical content. (wiki)

I had a chance seeing about  this great poet of yesteryears. Thereafter I went on to see a biopic on him and also one of his works- Kandhar Anubhuti, consisting of  51 verses. These contain pure Vedantic thoughts of the highest order, worth savouring at any time.

Arunagiri’s life could give very many valuable lessons to the modern mis-guided youth any where in the world.

·       He resorted to all types of indulgences in his life, even after getting married and led to complete ruin of self and family.

·        A stage came that he had no alternative but to contemplate suicide.

·        While carrying out his plan, he was miraculously rescued by Lord Muruga as per legends.

·        He changed, thereafter, so completely, that he went on to compose a large number of hymns on Lord Muruga and led a pious life explaining the futility of enjoyment and the fleeing nature of all these pleasures that the world can offer.

Youth of date who are on self and family  destructive social media contents, drugs, drinking and all types of indulgences- akin to Hippy culture of the seventies- will be enlightened, if they read about  Poet Arunagiri.

One another famous person all of us will know is  Ratnakar. His past was not good being a jungle robber. But then a chance meeting with some Rishis changed him and he became Valmiki Maharishi, the author of the immortal Ramayana.

·       The above two stories give great lessons to the misled youth and others.

·       There is scope for redemption, provided, they get the right guidance and they make changes in their lives.

Is it asking for too much…?

Arunagiri’s life gives much answers … to the discerning….. and the destined...

Be happy. Be safe.
