Somanath temple is located in Gujarat and is dedicated to Lord Shiva, one of the 12 Jyotir Lingas. This is considered as the first Jyotir Lingam
The temple is near the Sea and is indeed picturesque going by the videos. I have not visited .
This temple has much historical significance as it was attacked by invaders time and again and attempts have been made to destroy it. But like Phoenix it has risen again and now it is a beautiful and imposing temple structure, that is the strength of the Sanatana Dharma.
Dharma can never be destroyed.. this people should remember/realise and India is a country of Dharma...
Bhagavad Gita starts with Dharmakshetre Kurukshetre... what a legacy for the present and future.
Knowing the history and glory of such temples will help to
create awe and devotion in the minds of people. Visiting the temple will be a
great boon, I am sure God willing, one may still go there.
Today grand Aartis performed at the temple are available online such that one is able to have a Darshan of the beautiful Shiv Lingam of the Lord and pray even from a distance.
If not in person, at least visit virtually. But visit without fail.
Be happy. Be safe.

I had the good fortune of visiting all the 12 jyotirlingas in the country some years ago at the suggestion of our late boss,
ReplyDeleteDr. A V Parulkar.
It was in Mahabaleshwar while attending the Bancon conference hosted by Saraswat co-operative Bank that while on a stroll, he picked up a big picture depicting all the jyotirlingas and gave it to me. Then he suggested that I should aim at visiting each one of them.
Time is not a factor but visit them.
So, I took it upon myself this duty. Started visiting one by one even while in service and completed the visits in 2014 or so.
By God's grace, it could be accomplished. Some of the visits like Kedarnath Rameshwaram and Kashi are very fresh in mind.
