Sri Ramanathaswamy Temple,Rameshwaram located at the southern tip of India is an imposing temple structure dedicated to Lord Shiva. This is one of the 12 Jyotir Lingas.
There are many legends
about the temple. First and foremost, it is believed that Lord Sri Rama
consecrated the temple before his visit to Lanka to free Sita Devi from the
clutches of Ravana.
The temple is visited by many from all over the country. It is located
at an isolated place and one has to
cross a long bridge (by road
/rail). The railway bridge was washed away a few decades back and then re-built.
The temple houses many deities, main being Lord Shiva.
There is a Spadika Lingam, darshan of which is available in the early morning only. The
temple has huge corridors studded with
stone pillars, which are worth seeing.
The temple complex has
many wells, having different flavours of theertham. Devotees take bath from the waters of
different wells as part of their pilgrimage/ rituals.
All in all Rameswaram temple will give great tranquillity to both eyes and mind.
A must see temple for any devotee.
Be happy .Be safe.
