The Diary of a Young Girl, also known as The Diary of Anne Frank, is the writings from the Dutch language diary kept by Anne Frank while she was forced to be in hiding with her family during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands.
In August 1944, they were discovered and deported to Nazi concentration camps. Of the eight people, only Otto Frank, the oldest, survived the war. Anne died when she was barely 15 years.
In
the manuscript, her original diaries are written over three extant volumes. The
third existing volume (which was also a school exercise book) contains entries
from April 17 to August 1, 1944, when Anne wrote for the last time before her
arrest. (Wikipedia)
·
This book is the sad story of a girl around 13
years who had to spend over 2 years in hiding with all her family members to
escape from the eyes of the Nazi police and informers.
·
The two years spent in hiding has been captured
in great detail by this intelligent girl, who had a good childhood and
education before the said ordeal had started.
·
The diary is highly informative on human
suffering and human behavior amongst close relations when such situations
arise.
·
Man’s
inhumanity to other human beings is well known, yet accounts given in the book
will shake the conscience of the thinking class and certain lessons could be
learnt for future.
· Yet the history shows that nothing much has been learned from such events and new episodes get repeated ad infinitum.
·
Book’s popularity
inspired the 1955 play The
Diary of Anne Frank which was adapted for the screen for the
1959 movie version.
· The book is included in several lists of the top books of the 20th century. Many monuments have been built in her memory in various parts of the world. Reading of her saga will be really motivating to one and all.(The diary has been published in more than 60 languages).

Very interesting story about Anne Frank by you.
ReplyDeleteShe spent only 15 years in this cosmic world. What a loss for world literature in her passing away at such a young age.
Thanks for sharing this blog. 🙏🙏
