 Soundarya Lahari

Saundarya Lahairi  is a hymn praising the divine qualities of Adi Parashakti. The composition has 100 slokas in two parts. viz. Ananda Lahari up to 41 verses and Soundarya Lahari from 42 to 100 verses.

·       Ananda Lahiria covers the Mantra- Tantra- Yatra aspects connected with Devi Upasana and they contain many Bija mantras and are used by Devi Upasakas for Siddhis and other benefits.

·       Whilst the Saundary Lahari portion describes the beauty of the Divine mother from hair to feet… in great minute details.

The composition is indeed a difficult one to understand, but with the help of a teacher the esoteric meanings of the works come out and one gets into a “Lahari” after studying it.

One will be flabbergasted by the wisdom of the Acharya… unlike many of his other compositions, say like Bhaja Govindam or Atma Botha etc., here the construction of each verse is so complex, one is struck by his erudition…. No doubt he is the Jagat Guru…

·       I had the opportunity to attend the online sessions conducted by the Soundarya Lahiri Upasana Mandali of Kerala for the past 3 plus months.

·        All the 100 slokas were explained- one sloka per day- for the past 100 days by Swami Krishnatmananda of Arsha Teertha Peedam, Palakkad, Kerala in some 10 to 14 minutes per sloka per day…

·       Listening to that daily became a Sadhana for the past 3 months…and one could understand the slokas better, but by- hearting those slokas is out of question at this  age in life… but the sheer opportunity to listen and learn is considered as a blessing from the Divine Mother.

Being familiar with many other works of the Adi  Shankaracharya, I was keen to attend this text also in detail and that became possible now… all Devi Icha…

·       Some 1.5 Lac persons have pursued the said Soundarya Lahiri online course during the past 3 months… this is a great achievement…

·        if each one  tries to spread this awareness to one more person at least… the multiplier effect will be significant… that is what the Guru suggested/asked as true Guru Dakshina!!!

• Soundarya Lahari Upasana Mandali, Kerala and Team  deserve all praise and congratulations for achieving this stupendous effort which will culminate on 19 November,2021 (at 5 PM) with mass chanting of the 100 Slokas across the world by all devotees.

Adi Shankara had written over 150 texts…. It will be useful if one gets familiar with some of his important works … that all provides the Adwaitic knowledge which will be very useful especially in the evening of life…

people who are in the busy schedule of life may think that Adwaitic study is for retired folks… which in my opinion is a very wrong assumption…

Especially the young should get inducted into Adi Shankara’s works that will make their life’s journey more productive, profitable and peaceful.

We pray to Divine mother to bless all with the opportunity and desire to pursue such noble works…. early in life…
