 Man’s Search for Meaning -7

 The search for meaning  in life ends in the graveyard for one and all. 

• The stark reality of human life and its meaning etc. finds a  permanent resting place  there . 
• Whether people resting their had realized that is not sure… as none of them came back to report or record that…

A short  video film on” Famous Graves Tour” was seen  recently.

 Here the narrator took the viewers through some of the cemeteries in Switzerland where some of the film world’s famous  personalities   are resting eternally. Most of the graves are in lovely locations, as it is the country itself is lovely.

 The ride through different locales with the clouds touching the hills was indeed lovely to watch even on the screen. Beautiful greenery and valleys/landscapes, a real treat to the eyes. 

Though one has seen that country in many films, yet the tour shown here to different cities , is really amazing to watch. How much more lovely it will be in person?

The graves remind us of our own end in this limited sojourn on earth whatever be the pelf and fame earned during the short  life . Hardly any one of the cited personalities crossed even 80 years. Some of the names are such, who had held the world at their feet in popularity during their life time and even later.. some names are-

·       Richard Burton

·       Charles Chaplin

·       Audrey Hepburn

·       David Niven

·       Alistair McClain

·       Freddie Mercury…

Like that  the narrator had covered some 30 famous  personalities from the film world… some of the graves are kept so well that it depict the  fan following even today. The upkeep is awesome…

But what is of significance is that after enjoying the place in the sunshine , the resting place is same for all… whether with a marked grave or not… all are buried either bodily or in the form of ashes.. as in India..

Within that brief  period between entry  and exit, man/woman does such actions that are recalled with pleasure or pain…. but the player at times may not be conscious of that … while playing the role…

How many billions came and returned to mother earth.. and how many more will come only to go… that is the thought for the philosopher…

In a Malayalam  movie song of fifties, it is nicely put it… everyone will end in a space of less than six feel of earth….. 

• Are we conscious of this reality sufficiently…
• if so will we be wasting our allotted time… killing the  present time in trivialities… as the final resting time is sure to come…
•  should not one enjoy.. the current time fully… 
• happily for self and others…
• is one doing that?…worth a thought..

All those thoughts welled up while seeing the well laid out graves of famous – movers and shakers of an bygone era... Audrey Hepburn’s residence itself was called.. PEACE.

May their soul rest in eternal peace….

The search for meaning in life will continue for the living….as before….  as it should… as each soul has to find the meaning during or after this short life……
