Pride in the Nation
I received a WhatsApp forward two days back that prompted me to see the following interview lasting some 57 minutes. The YouTube link is-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhm7HJmiVFA.
Excerpts from which I am
reproducing for the following reasons-
- ·
Sheer
beauty of the arguments and clarity of thoughts
- ·
Forthrightness
in presentation
- ·
Holding
on to views with pride, non-submissiveness
- · Great pride in the Nation and its culture, value system and achievements….
Worth listening: An
excellent articulation of India’s stand on many global and domestic issues by
our External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, during his virtual discussion with General
McMaster, conducted by the Hoover Institution.
*He was Questioned ,among others, on
India's Handling of the Pandemic. He stated, "We are Giving FREE FOOD to as many as 800 million People.
We have put Money into Bank Accounts of 400 million. To Underline his
Statement, he Explained that, India was Providing Food Stocks to Two and a Half Times the US
Population and Funding More than its Population.
*On the Global Projection of a Failing Indian Government, Jaishankar added,
- "I would Certainly See this very much, as part of a Political Effort, to Depict Our Current Government, in a certain way and obviously I have a Very Profound Difference with that.”
- He stated that India is a pluralistic society with wide spectrum of differences of all sorts, yet the country believes in Democracy deeply.
- The conduct during the last 75 years shows Indian ethos and the belief “world as one family” is deeply ingrained in the minds of one and all.
- He added the country value Ethics in its dealings and has a rich value system/spiritual heritage.
- The Indian mind is highly intuitive by nature and can easily understand the world trends.
He further stated that Post-Covid the
world will be much different in comparison to earlier years.
Pandemic now, climate change and terrorism will make the world to adopt new strategies with a broader stakeholder ship approach to international issues.
- It will be no more acceptable to thinking locally, ignoring the international realities, he stressed while lamenting that many countries are yet to realise this shift in world scenery.
- Pandemic has taught unforgettable and bitter lessons in this area to one and all.
The interview has rich contents for
those who are interested in knowing where the world heading. We have a minister
here, who is very clear in his thinking and precise in articulation.
That is talent, competence and diplomacy of the highest level. Here qualification, pedigree mattes.
- Fortunately, the country has many such BHARAT RATNAS of sheer TALENT -TODAY AS BEFORE .
Be happy. Be safe.
