 Are they really human beings?

The following news item was seen on the net yesterday prompting the question- is he really a human being ?

• Austrian man mummifies mother’s body for a year to receive €50,000 benefits 
•  Which category  this news  can be put, I have no idea…
•  Such news benumbs one’s sensibilities.
•  Are we living in a civilized society? Mind you the report is from Austria, which by our normal understanding is a developed country…. so, I think … I have not made any research (don’t intend also). 
• But the news item is sickening and sordid….from the angle of scavengers even….

Quote-"Bringing grim reminders of the Kolkata man who preserved his mother’s body in a freezer for years, an Austrian man was found to have mummified his mother’s corpse to keep receiving her benefits.

According to a report in AFP, Austrian Police discovered the body of an 89-year-old woman mummified and preserved in the cellar for over a year as her son continued to receive the benefits.

The woman, who suffered from dementia, died in June last year and her 66-year-old son lived with the body at their residence in the Tyrol region of Austria.

During questioning, the man admitted that after her death, he froze the body with research (had received Euro 50,000 (Rs 43.4 lakh) over the past year as benefits the woman was entitled to and had been receiving the monthly payments. However, a new postman demanded to see the beneficiary recently, which he refused." Unquote

 This is between a son and his mother, the closest of relationship one can think of in this world. Yet, such barbarism is seen  even in 2021… for MONEY….

·       Then is it a wonder that for money or other reasons people are kidnapped, terrorized, blackmailed, exploited, tortured and eventually killed…. la Nirbhaya… Tandoor case…9/11… Kasab at CST station.... list can be added ad infinitum if we search the net from Indian or world arena…

Who is to be blamed….? Since this is seen among the human specie from various parts of the world over the centuries….  what one can surmise….

Leave to God’s will and get on with our mundane activities…. with an Ostrich like out look…

That brought me to a Video received yesterday, in which a DY. SP from Kerala was seen giving  a talk ( in Malayalam) to a spiritual gathering.  Video of some 14 minutes contained nuggets of wisdom  that each adult and more so married people  M U S T listen and nurture in them and their relations. I will try to capture some gems of wisdom from his outstanding talk…

·       Our individualistic life style and isolated living mentality contribute to all problems at home and society.

·       Lack of sharing with others and trying to pose an artificial reality of richness, greatness, competence etc. leads to much problems.

·       The soap- TV- culture among parents leading to an illusory life style… causing   issues in society.

·       Children are brought up in an unrealistic background, giving them things/gadgets beyond the means of parents. When it is stopped the kids resort to anti-social activities and even land in jail… he linked it to drug addiction, stealing of mobiles, vehicles etc.… a regular news item in papers and other media…

·       Girl children not having trust in mothers to reveal their ordeals in life, that make them silent victims later on.

·  Competitive and backbiting life among neighbors leading to indifference towards others life…. leading to utter callousness….

     Perennially cribbing for one thing or other... not at all happy with the half full cup... but crying due to the half empty  cup.....

·       Enjoying at others misery rather than empathizing…. 

·       Pretending to be great with very limited achievements – not looking around to see how small indeed one is in the scheme of things….

·       Desire to live a standard of life more than they are capable of…. LIFE FULL OR PRETENSIONS, ARTIFICIALITY AND EXCLUSIVNESS…. MORE AND MORE WITHDRAWN…. SELF CREATED PEDESTALS.

·       ONE MUST DEVELOP COMPASSION, COMRADARIE, MIXING NATURE, KINDNESS, EMPATHAY…  TO LIVE PEACEFULLY, HAPPILY IN THE CURRENT SOCIETY FULL OF CHEATING, LOOTING, KILLING, AND ALL TYPE OF SOCIAL EVILS… THUS THE LETCUTRE WENT ON…

Coming the above from a senior police officer  is really surprising… and eye opener as he has a deeper insights to the crime in society in general and against children etc. in particular. He cited live cases to augment his points.. His anguish was evident in his talk….

·       Lecture was superb, awesome, incredible, magnificent outstanding. I have no more words to express my appreciation for this great talk!!!

 Coming back to our topic- Are they really belonging to  human specie, who give pain to other beings- human or animal?…

·       I remember reading a James Hadley Chase thriller during my college days. The Vulture is a Patient Bird… thus in all societies, around the world, vultures are waiting 24x7x365 for the unwary…….

We must thank our numerous religious festivals that help one to detox from such dehumanizing events/news/happenings  in such a V -U- C-A  world...... periodically..... repeatedly...... 

Other than God, who can help here, who indeed?
