75th Independence Day speech of Hon. Prime Minister
I have been a regular and keen
viewer/listener of the Independence Day speech of the PMs since 1970
or so either on Radio or TV. Yesterday also I had the fortune to
watch the speech of our Hon. PM.
·
Before coming to that I
wish to cite an incident. While interacting with a Driver on the Independence
day , he cited that the PM has done much but he could have done more. So, I
casually asked him whether in his opinion any other leader of today would have
done a better job. He categorically stated No and added that Modiji will come back to power
in the next general election too !
·
What I mentioned this has
relevance. In the last couple of days including today I got some detailed write
up and poem on our achievements and of
course on our major non-attainments.
·
They
lament that millions go to sleep without food. This I have heard since
seventies, when the population was 55.51 Crore and the country was at the mercy
of PL 480.Our population is 139.51
Crore as of yesterday. ( internet)
· Hence, the Nation could jointly produce another 84
Crore more mouths/persons to be fed. None since 1975 spoke about the word- Population Control…. Hence, we had uncontrolled population
growth/EXPLOSION.
· 84,00,00,000-(84
Crore) more population in less than FIFTY years!
· ( In the
same period the US population went up
from 20.51 Cr to 33.31 crore, a rise of
mere 13 Crore). Stories of two biggest democracies.
·
And then
liberals cried that such mouths/persons should be fed by the Government of India.(Then they will compare with Singapore or Hong
Kong with population of a few millions !! A few will then even compare with China
timidly. But when someone points out their style of Governance ,the argument is
hastily withdrawn)
·
Arm chair experts/Olympians focus on
the empty cup often ignoring the harsh realities of the country.
·
Since long
our governments got involved in production of all items from condoms to War
Carrier ships, so priorities got lost. Further there were constraints of
resources too.
·
The public always felt that Government must feed
all mouths/persons too apart from providing free shelter, medicine, of course,
education etc.
Let us now get back to the speech. The speech
lasted 130 plus minutes . I linked the time to the population of India today-
139 Crore. The similarity could be coincidence, or is it?
·
I will not
go into details of the speech, as it cannot be summarized in one or two blog
pages. On the contrary any nation loving person must listen to it by investing 2 hours and ten minutes .
·
As a faculty of past, I was delighted by his presentation-
both from the angle of contents and Vision. He was talking about the road map
from 75 years now to 100 years. India of 2047.
·
He added that whoever will address the nation
in that year will be talking about our achievements on areas now being discussed/emphasized
by him. What a vision, what a confidence in the Youth
and ability of the nation!
He cited two visionaries of past viz. Swami Vivekananda and Sri
Aurobindo, both predicted a great future for our Mother India. Such quotations
will only come from persons who have mother land in their blood and heart. He
articulated his vision for the country in specific and unmistakable
terms. But how it will be achieved? Who will
achieve it/ what is the time line? All these he hinted in the speech clearly
and specifically.
Hence the importance of the speech.
·
But another
thought flashed in my mind. How many would have listened to the speech or going
to listen to the speech out of the 130 Crore abadi-population - we cite
repeatedly and so proudly. I do not want to guess. But shouldn’t we start counting?
·
( For
example, if the employees don't listen to the vision , mission
laid down by the CMD/CEO/ Chairman of a company, how that
company will ever reach the goals? And if the employees work at
cross purposes , then what will happen to such a company? All worth thinking.
Here we are dealing with not a corporate entity but with an entire Nation).
·
If the
people are not in it, not aware of the plan or blue print or road map so
painstakingly sketched by the Hon. PM, when, where and who will achieve it?
Will we achieve it at all?
Being a fan of the term EXECUTION, I could see that the PM is not
talking merely about plans- akin to 5-year plans of yester years. He was emphasizing on EXECUTION. Do we want it to be achieved?
When? He said we don’t have decades to wait for that. We must reach
sooner than later. But positively in the 100th year
of Independence. In order to realise the vision, he added one more
dimension to his mantra of earlier years-
'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas’
I liked the stress on Prayas throughout his
speech. Execution calls for effort and effort of all the citizens. Armchair
critics have no place in such a set up . Perform through PRAYAS is the mantra to
be adopted- Whether it is in studies, office work, sport or in nation
building.
Having achieved great strides in his Gujarat days as CM and even as PM so far, We have a PM, who not only project dream for the Nation but also shows the path ahead to realize it, provided the Nation wants to listen appropriately and is ready to walk the talk.
The PM repeatedly lauded the great achievement of the Tokyo Olympics team from India. He added that the new generation is a CAN DO generation and they will show to the world that India can achieve its goal. He cited also our achievement of 54 Crore plus Covid preventing vaccination, the highest in the world!
Hon.
Prime Minister deserves congratulations for articulating his Vision for
the next quarter century. May God help him in realizing the grand
dream visualized /articulated so that the citizens will benefit- today and
tomorrow.
Be happy. Be safe.

The above is a slokam in Ashtavakragita. Here King Janaka after listening to the advice of Rishi Ashtavakra becomes enlightened. He at one point declares that even when he is in the midst of a crowd , he does not get affected by Dwaitham. He meant that he does not see anyone other himself. He felt that he is in a thick forest.
Of course I have not reached the level of enlightened King Janaka......
But I strive to keep aloof from the worldly happenings.Though I keep abreast of the developments I try not to be affected by them.
I try to believe that whatever is to happen will happen, howsoever one tries to prevent it and whatever is not to happen will not happen howsoever one try to accomplish it.🙏🙏🙏
Great. I endorse your views 👍🙏

PM Modi has appreciated the 'prayas' of all Olympians be they winners or losers. If all indians strive for Atmanirbhar Bharat in every sphere of activity it would not be impossible to achieve that goal before centenary of India's independence. May God him a long life. May the country be led by such leaders.
