Day 108

 Travelogue : America-1

(I had visited USA for a fortnight in 2018.My impressions were recorded then under the head American Dream, which is  shared here for wider dissemination).

“The Future belongs to those who Dream” This is a message one sees at many public places in the USA. This message essentially captures the American spirit in its totality, going by the progress it has made over two centuries till now.

Americans are world leaders in many fields is well known. How they have become that will be worth a study. Definitely, it is not by an accident or by chance or fate.

World over American bashers are on the rise-rightly or wrongly will depend on the perspectives of the people involved. It is possible that 99% of such critics may not have seen the US till date. Hence their views will be similar to those who comment on a book after hearing about it or seeing just the cover page.

Country

But those who have seen the US and are having an objective mind will notice the progress made by that country in all fields. The uniform development across- whatever little the author has seen- is truly remarkable.

A country that is five times the geographical area of India cannot be definitely seen within a fortnight. That does not matter. But having seen some 1000 miles by road, rail, water and air, one can get some impressionistic view of the country. That is being shared here for general information and personal satisfaction.

Going by the dream they are pursuing, the country could reach many milestones. Most significant being the Moon landing mission in 1969 when Neil Armstrong became the first human being to walk on the Moon surface. That is realizing a dream set by its former Iconic President Late J F Kennedy. No other country could have that dream fulfilled till date.

Let us learn to give the credit where it is due. Otherwise underdeveloped countries will only miss the bus again and again.

Even after lots of dedicated efforts, catching up with USA will be a far cry and a herculean task for most of the countries in the world. Even the developed western countries lag behind considerably, then what to speak of Asian, African, Latin American, Middle East and other group of countries.

***ASK NOT WHAT THE COUNTRY WILL DO FOR YOU,

BUT WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR THE COUNTRY*** J F Kennedy

Be happy. Be safe.

  2. Quoting Winston churchil"Fear is the key ", but unfortunately our country is ruled by money power and muscle power and fear is a distant word for us as far as the law of land is concerned. You are very right that we can not blame the Btitishers after 75 years independance and todays mess and pathetic conditions are our own creation.it is better if the present and coming generation realise it and do some damage control.

  3. Good reading.probably the undiluted patriotism and stringent laws are the key for their success. In 2019 i had been to Melborne .Their discipline, patriotism, cleanliness, adherence to law etc are beyond our imaginations and we are lagging at least 50 years.probably never ever we reach that stage.sorry state of affairs.

  4. True sir

The country has definitely good systems and rules in place and the rules which are applied uniformly from whatever little I have seen

Besides the most appealing feature is that there is the dignity of labor and people work hard and are aware .
They have a strong sense of community giving and service inculcated from school level.

At ground level most of the people in service sector they extend courtesy to all and are trained to be sensitive especially to the differently abled— which is touching as each human life matters!

For me personally I feel I have yet to come across a country that is inclusive in all ways and we do have a lot to learn from the good aspects of each country . This is the most disabled friendly country where not only they can have a quality life with lot of medical developments but also in every possible way have cutting edge ongoing research in rare diseases , assistive technology aids and highest quality products which one can learn and implement in our own country as we too have the manpower and the brains !!

We need to create awareness of the needs of the disabled and have the political will to follow through laws and implement it!

  5. There are some differencing factors that have contributed to US for what it is today. I totally agree with you on your above analysis. It is beautiful all over except some parts. I think following are some of the factors contributing to their fast development.
    1. USA is never attacked by outside force.
    2. More than ample land considering population.
    3. No issue of cast and religion.
    4. Litetacy rate is very high.

Though these are some of the factors US did not have to deal with, their progress is undoubtedly great due to their great efforts and dedication.
