Day 103

From Joy are born all creatures, by joy they grow and to joy they return.

   (Taitiriya Upanishad)

Eudemonia is a Greek word commonly translated as happiness or welfare; however, "human flourishing or prosperity” and "blessedness" have been proposed as more accurate translations.

Etymologically, it consists of the words "eu" ("good") and "daimōn"("spirit"). It is a central concept in Aristotelian ethics and political philosophy, along with the terms "aretē", most often translated as "virtue"or "excellence", and "phronesis", often translated as "practical or ethical wisdom".

Discussion of the links between virtue of character (ēthikē aretē)and happiness (eudaimonia) is one of the central concerns of ancient ethics, and a subject of much disagreement.(wiki)

Since the beginning of human civilization, man has been in search of happiness, whatever be the word used. All beings, whether animals or human crave for peace and joy.

Look at even the lion cubs playing among themselves with their mother watching. All hell breaks out when some disturbances happen . Ditto with human life. See the atmosphere in a praying place-see the peace surrounding the place and look at a the market place. Now link that with a place of riots or war… then one will see the contrast and human yearnings.

Current century, like the last one was plagued by terror, war, civil wars  and all types of human made miseries, not to forget natural furies. Result the human beings, and even animals have to suffer needlessly.

It is in this context the relevance of Eudomania needs to be deliberated.

Be happy. Be safe
