Satyam Eva Jayate -Truth alone triumphs- from Mundaka Upanishad is adopted as the national motto of India in 1950.Most of the people believe in the said Upanishad mantra.
Be that the case, in the world , since time immemorial, we have seen the victory of falsehood also- in family, business, kingdoms, governments, corporate world, international scenario etc. … at least in the short run.
As there are always two
sides to anything , there are supporters for the evil too in plenty. Further,
none can do anything when the evil is perpetrated, and many times they can be
only mute witnesses…specific cases are not cited.
Without elaborating, one
can thus say that evil also had its time in the world and continue to have it.
As the people are an admixture of good and bad elements- godly and asuras- the
situation will get repeated, ad infinitum, whether one wishes or
not. One can only pray that one is not a victim of acts of barbarism.
In this blog the focus is to
develop Spiritual Quotient such that one is able to go on despite such
happenings /setbacks… for which one should have faith, trust, and above all
pride in one’s culture, teachings and heritage.
A civilization is preserved
through its legacy. Hinduism is fortunate that it has rich legacies that cannot
be rivalled by any other religions of date. But then one must be
willing to see it with an open mind.
Many have no idea about
many things in Hinduism. How many Hindu
students, even up to final college level ,will be able to cite just one of the
works of Adi Shankarachrya? Some one can
make a start with their own children or grandchildren. Be that the case, the
Sringeri Shankara Pitham/Math is taking efforts to spread the chanting of
Soundarya Lahiri across states. One such programme held at Bangalure, I saw on YouTube being
addressed, among others by our Hon .Prime Minister, in 2017. A similar recitation
Yagnya is planned in Kerala State in November,2021.
One of our rich legacies
is the awesome temples across the length and breadth of the nation and a
large number of them with 1000 years plus history. Remembering
them even will enrich one and then what to speak if one is able to visit them
in person.
A brief tour of some select 20 temples are covered to share
the rich temple legacy of Hinduism.
The first temple, covered is the renovated Kasi
Viswanath temple at Varanasi. Though I have not
visited the same, a video of the renovated temple is in circulation. The
renovated temple, full of marble structure is a beautiful and enchanting sight.
The temple accommodates some 100 plus Shiva Lingas of
different sizes and colours. There is a sectsion for 12 Jyotir Lingas, in
the background one could see the murtis of Shiv- Parvati, Vishnu- Mahalakshmi,
Hanuman and Adi Shankara.
The inside dome of the temple is simply mind blowing. Even
from the brief video clippings one’s mind swells with pride and devotion to
Lord Shiva. How much more it will be if one is able to see in person!
This temple
partially reminded me of the Pasupatinath temple of Nepal, which I had the good
fortune to visit. There also, I saw some 100 plus Shiva Lingas attached to the
main precincts of the temple. The Nandi-bull- in that temple is so huge and
imposing in golden colour- a sight to watch indeed.
It is
visits to such temple that will remind one about the great glory of the
past and of course the richness of Hindu religion/heritage/culture.
Our youngsters should be able to explore them.. Parents
should take the lead.
( As details of such temples are now easily
available on the net, I don’t intent to make these as a research blogs).
Be
happy. Be safe.
