Day 34 . Review- 3

Saint Kabirdas bhajan makes one think deeply about the uncertainties /fragility of the life and world in which we are in.

रहना नहिं देस बिराना है।

यह संसार कागद की पुडिया, बूँद पडे गलि जाना है।

 यह संसार काँटे की बाडी, उलझ पुलझ मरि जाना है।

 यह संसार झाड और झाँखर आग लगे बरि जाना है।

 कहत कबीर सुनो भाई साधो, सतुगरु नाम ठिकाना 

Kabirda ji says that this world is not for us to live forever. The world is comparable to a bundle of papers which will get destroyed with a few drops of water. Similarly, it is akin to a forest that will get burnt down. One has to live among thorns and obstacles and survive, but getting acquainted with a Saint alone can give one release from this world of entrapment .(This is a loose translation giving the gist of the Bhajan).

We are all trapped in the web of the world and suffer untold miseries. But we don’t realize it fully and even if realized, we don’t act sufficiently thinking that there is still time.Many wait till the house catches fire, before digging wells. (This is a from a proverb).

The fact is that the time is above our head.

Recently a bus fell into a canal in Siddhi, MP killing some 54 travellers instantly. Many of them were between 20 to 30 going for some job interview.

·         Would they have thought of the disaster that took their lives so suddenly?

·         Was there even time to pray when suddenly the bus was drowned in the canal?

Even visualizing events like that will make one shudder. Still, we make merry, don’t we thinking that there is no tomorrow?

Once born all are in the jaws of death. When the jaws will close for anyone cannot be said. That is all. So, some people died at birth, but others at the ripe old age of 100 plus years. But then people have died at every second of the said 100 years, if one takes count of the 115  billions of people who left this vast world…… hence the saying “ in the jaws of death”.

Probably, Kabirdasji is addressing at such minds, who think there is time and time ahead……

Worth reflecting, worth taking steps that will help in our final liberation, though the time of which is so uncertain.

NB: while writing the following news flashed--All seven passengers aboard a plane, including Tarzan actor Joe Lara and his diet guru wife, are presumed dead after it crashed in a lake near the US city of Nashville, authorities said.

The small business jet crashed at around 11:00 am local time on Saturday, shortly after taking off from the Smyrna, Tennessee airport for Palm Beach, Florida, Rutherford County Fire & Rescue (RCFR) said on Facebook.
