This is the 10th post on the blog.
This blog is intended to be a SAMVAD-dialogue. None has full answers to spiritual issues. However jointly some
answers could be found.
Some responses have come on the blog and by emails, which have enriched the contents.
The
blog so far focussed on the following-
1.
Abhayam==fearlessness
2.
Dharma and Sukham==
Righteousness and Happiness
3.
Sadhana Chatushtayam==
spiritual qualities for seekers
4.
Jnana’s importance in
spiritual quest
5.
Happiness gap
The above are for repeated reflections-manana. Not for one time reading or listening like a TV debate.
Spiritual quest calls for dedicated and longtime efforts. In the Gurukul system, the student used to spend some 12 years at the Guru’s place.
Puranas talk about Tapasya- penance for thousand years. This is symbolical to convey that the person concerned meditated for long. There is no short cut at all.
Even the five-year old Dhruva did hard penance
for 6 months giving up food and water towards the end.
So, walk the talk calls for dedicated and determined
practice.
There is no compulsion to take up this
path-which is compared to walking on a Razor’s
edge and it is not for the weakling, so says the scriptures. But if taken then needed efforts will have to be put get desired results.
Like
planting trees, say, coconut or mango, will call for efforts to nurture them for a
number of years before yielding returns.
